Dr. Enrique Bargalló Rocha is a distinguished breast cancer specialist with over 20 years of experience at leading medical institutions, including ABC Medical Center Observatorio. He earned his medical degree from La Salle University and completed his residency in General Surgery and fellowship in Oncologic Surgery at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He currently serves as the Head of the Breast Tumor Department at the National Cancer Institute of Mexico. Throughout his career, Dr. Bargalló has led numerous programs and initiatives, most notably the establishment of the Functional Breast Tumor Unit. He has integrated advanced reconstructive techniques into surgical care, including the use of free vascularized flaps through microsurgery, implant-based reconstruction, and oncoplastic procedures. For patients with early-stage breast lesions, he utilizes intraoperative radiotherapy. To reduce complications from axillary lymph node dissections, he has implemented the sentinel lymph node biopsy technique. Dr. Bargalló is also an expert in the use of genomic signatures to assess the risk of breast cancer recurrence, enabling him to tailor treatments and improve patient outcomes. He is an active member of The Cancer Genomics Community (CCGCoP) —a network dedicated to advancing knowledge and collaboration in cancer genetics and genomics— and recently participated in the “Intensive Course in Genetic Cancer Risk Assessment.”
