Dr. Mark Schaverien
is an Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston. After receiving his Medical Doctorate at the University of Edinburgh, Dr. Schaverien completed his training and Plastic Surgery residency in the UK, during which he undertook a clinical research fellowship at the Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas. He subsequently completed multiple fellowships in Microvascular Surgery, Oncoplastic Breast Surgery and Reconstructive Cosmetic Surgery in the UK, and in Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at the Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He was an Attending Plastic Surgeon at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School.
An expert in complex reconstruction and microsurgery, particularly breast surgery and lymphedema surgery, Dr. Mark Schaverien received his Board Certification from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. His expertise and experience enabled him to join the faculty at the Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center as an Assistant Professor in 2016. Dr. Schaverien has over 90 publications and 40 invited national and international presentations, and is an active researcher with interests in outcomes and translational research.
